We now have curtains! Remember last year when I bought material and was going to make curtains? Well, I took the material out, looked at it for about an hour, was scared to cut it and put it away. But we had a wonderful lady from California that was not scared to cut my material and made my curtains!!!!!!!
We are missionaries with CAM International, serving in camping ministry in Guatemala. Called "Finishers" within the missions community, we are babyboomers who have completed one career and are embarking on a new career to "finish" the task God has set before us. We encourage other babyboomers to explore similar possibilities!

Two weeks of ... Fun!!
We had a great time and actually did a lot of work! This is the church that, other than our home church, has adopted us and visits twice a year. We always look forward to their visits and love to see them come back. They got a kick out of our Southern accents, "fixin' to...", and Pea-pickin' Cake. You'll have to visit to taste the Pea-pickin' Cake!!

Alma and Arthur
Because of all of the rain, not much concrete has been poured at Las Buenas Nuevas (LBN). This picture was taken today while we saw about 3 hours of sun! We will be living at LBN a lot in the next 2 months so maybe I can update the pictures more often!

Shopping!!

It's been such fun visiting Lindsay in Nashville! Mother and I went shopping with Lindsay buying for her new jewelry business. She says she spends money every time I visit because we always go shopping! Don't tell Johnny but I spent money too! Check out Lindsay's unique designs at www.simonandruby.etsy.com or click on the icon:
She has some really beautiful things - and that's not just her mom talking!

One hundred middleschoolers!
Trophies were given to the winning sports teams and the winners in the memorization and question/answer contests. This young man accepted the trophy for his church team for memorization. Notice that everyone is wet – minutes before, while finishing up the last of the papifut games, we all heard a roar in the distance coming closer. Most of us looked up in confusion until someone yelled, “Lluvia” (rain)!. You have never seen so many people move so fast! All headed for the garage as the large drops of rain began. Inside, over the deafening sound of rain hitting the metal roof, we finished up with the trophies. Everyone left shortly thereafter because the rain had set in for the afternoon. The rainy season has begun!

Recent Changes
This was the host home and its back yard. The windows are in the dining room, so all of the kitchen area is gone.

Two days in a row!
During the last of February, while we were still in the States, the large pile of dirt in front of the house was finally moved. We have guys out there now extending the wall down toward the highway. This will border the papifut court and will include bathrooms and showers in the corner. This will really be nice since the only bathrooms are now in our house or are latrines!
In the last couple of days, we also got signs put up to indicate the Camp! We now have signs on both sides of the road!!
We have spent the last week with our daughter and her husband, Jennifer and Andy. We've done a lot of sightseeing and Andy and Johnny went fishing yesterday. It has been a great week!
This was a 150 lb. sailfish that was released back into the water after the picture (Guatemalan law). But Andy had a great time catching it!!

Happy Valentine's Day!
As you can tell, it has been hectic, even in this short time. We will speak at another church tonight - "scheduled" this time and prepared for! Thank you for your prayers as we move from event to event! We have had safety in travel, even though it has been stormy. Decatur had snow flurries this morning as the temperature dropped - I may have to buy a coat!!!
Love in Christ,

Deja vu

Guatemala doesn't have tornados!
We didn't have electricity until Friday evening, about 7:00 P. Without electricity, we couldn't run the pump for the water, so that meant no showers, no toilets, no water for cleaning except what we could draw out of the cistern. But after hearing about friends in Indonesia that returned after Christmas to find an arsonist had burned down their house, we felt grateful that all we had was a little dirt. Yes, it was discouraging, but God's people pitched in and helped us get back on our feet!
